BAST
Sacred incense, fiery saffron and ancient myrrh reawaken the mystery of perfumery’s earliest beginnings.
Fragrance Story
Bast emerges through smoke and resin. Frankincense and cardamom open with an aromatic, almost ceremonial intensity before Greek saffron, incense absolute and cypriol deepen the composition with spice, earth and smoldering warmth.
Myrrh and amber anchor the fragrance, leaving a rich resinous trail that feels simultaneously ancient and strikingly contemporary. Mystical without becoming austere, Bast transforms incense into something warm, protective and unexpectedly sensual. Its official structure is frankincense essence and cardamom; Greek saffron, incense absolute and cypriol; then myrrh essence and amber.
Inspiration
Date: 2000 B.C.
Inspired by ānti, an ancient Egyptian perfume preparation, Bast looks back approximately four millennia to a fragrance associated with pharaonic Egypt and sacred ceremony. Perfumer Sidonie Lancesseur reinterprets that history through an overdose of incense, emphasizing its fresh, spicy and resinous dimensions with cardamom, saffron, cypriol, myrrh and amber.
