NASHI TORO
Crisp Nashi pear, sacred Hinoki and rain-soaked earth create a meditative portrait of ancient Japan.
Fragrance Story
Nashi Toro begins with clarity. Crisp Nashi pear meets aromatic Hinoki and the subtle bite of black pepper before iris butter, ambrette and Somalian incense introduce a quieter, more contemplative character.
Moss, musk, earth and rice bran absolute settle underneath, creating an unusual mineral-earthy softness suggestive of damp ground and humid air after rainfall. Fresh yet introspective, Nashi Toro feels less like a conventional fruity fragrance than a landscape experienced in silence.
Inspiration
Date: 86 AC
Inspired by Nashi seeds unearthed at the ancient Toro ruins in Japan's Shizuoka Prefecture, Nashi Toro looks back to the Yayoi period. Perfumer Karine Vinchon-Spehner approached the fragrance through Japan's meditative traditions, combining incense and Hinoki with ambrette and rice bran—the latter helping create the vaporous impression of rice water.
