Hexensalbe transforms this unsettling piece of folklore into scent, conjuring the atmosphere of a secret botanical preparation: intoxicating, shadowy and slightly dangerous. Rather than portraying the familiar fairytale witch, the fragrance reaches toward the darker origins of the legend—a world of poisonous plants, nocturnal rituals and altered perception, where the boundary between reality and hallucination begins to disappear.

Inspiration

Hexensalbe, or witches’ flying ointment, emerges from the darker corners of medieval European folklore. Made from highly toxic and hallucinogenic plants, these mysterious salves were said to induce ecstatic trances filled with sensations of flight, supernatural encounters and intense desire. Accounts dating as far back as the 14th century helped shape one of witchcraft’s most enduring symbols: the witch and her broomstick. Behind the familiar image lies a far more provocative history—one intertwined with altered states, forbidden ritual and society’s complicated fear of female sexuality.
